Mike Sherman
Customer Relationship Consultant, Former Senior Marketing Expert – Asia, McKinsey & Co.
Mike Sherman is an independent consultant specializing in CRM and customer insight across Asia. He works with clients to help them better leverage customer data and research to deliver insightful, practical solutions to marketing and business issues.
From 2004 – 2009, Mike was Director, Knowledge Management and Insights, Global at Synovate and based in Hong Kong. He worked directly with clients and researchers on difficult projects, behind the scenes on specific projects, mentored specific researchers, and on internal training programs. He codified and disseminated best practices across Synovate and led several knowledge and business development programs, and has been featured at several Esomar conferences such as in Montreal, Milan, Prague, and across Asia-Pacific.
Before that, Mike spent 17 years at McKinsey & Co., where he created and lead McKinsey’s Asia-Pacific Marketing Practice. At McKinsey he was both a generalist consultant, focusing on marketing work, and a specialist in pricing, packaged goods, customer insights and CRM. Mike authored several McKinsey Quarterly articles, including “Emerging marketing” (2002, number 2); “Can Marketing regain the Personal Touch?” (1995, number 1) and “E-performance, The Path to Rational Exuberance” (2001, number 1). His work has been cited in the Wall Street Journal Asia and several other Asian publications.
He began his career at P&G in Cincinnati, where he was a brand manager.
Mike earned an MBA with high distinction (Baker Scholar) from Harvard Business School and Bachelors’ degrees from the Wharton School and the College of Arts and Sciences of the University of Pennsylvania. Mike was an AFS high school foreign exchange student from the US to Turkey in 1974, and has remained actively involved with AFS, including serving as Chair of AFS’s USA partner.
Mike enjoys traveling and has visited over 100 countries on 6 continents.
